  1. What information do we collect?

    First, this site is as secure as you make it. Browsing the internet has its inherent risks and we recommend using a browser that fits your needs. Mozilla Firefox and Tor Browsers have enhanced security and anonymity, should that be of importance to you while visiting AFAF. You should not share any personal information in our feedback forms (e.g. your name, phone number, email address). We will only ask you to share personal information in the specific scenarios outlined below:

    • If you want to sign up to be an AFAF ambassador, we will ask for your full name, email address, and mailing address, in order to send promotional materials for AFAF.
    • There will be opportunities to provide feedback on the site through paid interviews. These interviews are optional and not at all required. In order to participate in these interviews, we will ask for your email address or phone number (your choice) in order to contact you and set up an interview time. We will also ask for your Venmo, Paypal, or CashApp information in order to pay you for your participation. You can decide to remain anonymous in the interview reporting. Your contact information will be deleted promptly after the interview. If the AFAF team is unable to connect with you after three attempts, the contact information you provided will be deleted one week after the third attempt.

    We use cookies to help us compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interaction so that we can continue to make improvements to this product. This information does not identify individual users. Cookies allow us to collect anonymized information about what browser you are using (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, or Safari), the kind of device you are using (e.g. an iPhone or Android), and the city and country from which you are accessing our site. If you have a completed profile on Google, , we will additionally receive your identified age and gender. Please note this information will not be used to identify you.

    We will use the information coming from cookies in order to collect aggregated (non-identifiable) demographic information like gender and location, to ensure we are reaching youth of different backgrounds throughout California. We also use cookies to track the total number of new and return users. This information cannot be traced back to you or your device. If you decide to opt into an interview with our team, we will use the information you provide to learn more about how well the site is working for you and how we can improve it. This also helps us when we apply for funding to build out the site further.

  3. How do we disclose your information?

    We may disclose your aggregated (non-identifiable) information with individual donors of our website to understand how many people are using the site (e.g. the total number of users and their location by city and state). If you opt into an interview, we may disclose your non-identifiable responses with individual donors.

    There is always a chance we would be required by law to provide data about users of our site to law enforcement or other government agencies. We encourage you to avoid providing us with your name or other information that could identify you. We encourage you to review the privacy settings on your device and your browser to the highest level of privacy.

  4. How do we protect your information?

    We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. We use industry-standard security measures to provide this protection. All information held in third party tools is also protected according to their industry-standard security measures. All Decision Support tool data is held within Typeform, we use Typeform because of their high quality privacy and security measures, you can read more about Typeform data protection practices and security here.

    If you provide personal information through feedback forms, interview sign-up, or ambassador sign-up, you have the right to access, correct, or delete this information. You also have the right to withdraw your participation in ambassadorship as well as your interview answers. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at askingforafriend@ylabsglobal.org.
